4.0 - INSERTING "BUBBLE NOTES"

Make sure your in Site plan.dwg and zoom in over the plan view and notice the different "bubble notes" as drawn in on a grayish color. These "bubble notes" are on a layer called ghost notes and are there to serve as an example of how the notes are supposed to appear as you insert notes. Type "ms" to enter the model space viewport.

Using the "CNM" pull down menu click on "CNM Setup" and then "Set Scale & Sizes". (Alternatively, type the word "Setup") At the prompt for the "Drawing Scale" type "20" to set the scale for 1" = 20' and hit enter. At the next prompt type 0.12 to set the text height equal to 0.12 inches high (this translates to text of 2.4).

Again, using the pull down menu "CNM", click on "Circle Note", or type "CIRL" and hit enter. This will prompt for the location of the end of the leader and then for the center point of the circle bubble note.

Using the "CIRL" command insert a leader and bubble note pointing to the sidewalk on the right side of the building. Remember, the first "pick point" is the tip of the leader and the second "pick point" is at the center of the circle. After the two pick points are selected it will prompt you for the note number.  Enter a 6, to match the ghost note and then for Line 1 Text , type in 1200 SF . Hit enter 2 more times to ignore the prompts for additional text.

Place another circle note at the valve along the water line for a note number 10.

Now go to the left side of the building and put in another circle bubble note. Enter a 5, to match the ghost note and then for Line 1 Text , type in 200 SF . Again, hit enter as required to ignore the additional prompts.

The menu has been changed from "Notes" to "CNM"

Note:
As you insert bubble notes you may want the leader line to be straight up, angled to the right, angled to the left, or horizontal to the left or right. The program will automatically place the text on the right or left of the "bubble" depending on the direction of the leader line as it relates to the vertical Y axis.

Pan over to the right of the building to where the blue line labeled 8" W is located.  Again, using the pull down menu "CNM", click on "Box Note", or type "BOXL" and hit enter. As done with the circle note, (and all other bubble notes), pick the location of where you want the endpoint of the leader first and then the location where you want the center of the box in order to place the bubble note.  Put in a box bubble note pointing to the water line with a note number 5. Hit enter several times to ignore the additional prompts for text.

The menu has been changed from "Notes" to "CNM"

Pan up to the green line labeled 6" S.  Again, using the pull down menu "CNM", this time click on "Diamond Note", or type "DIAL" and hit enter.   Put in a diamond bubble note pointing to the sewer line with a note number 5. Hit enter several times to ignore the additional prompts for text.

Now that several bubble notes have been inserted, try inserting several more based on the "ghost" notes as showing in the drawing. The pull down menu contains each of the different styles of bubble leader notes. However, the following is a list of the corresponding keyboard commands:

CIRL       Circle Note
BOXL      Box Note
DIAL       Diamond Note
HEXL      Hexagon Note
OCTL      Octagon Note
PENL      Pentagon Note
RECL      Rectangle Note
SSTL       Triange Note
ELLL       Ellipse Note

TRY THIS:

Type "Setup" and change the Drawing Scale to 40 and set the text height to 0.10. Then try inserting a couple of notes to see how it controls the size of the bubble notes and leaders.

Now open the Utility plan.dwg and put in more notes based on the ghost notes on the gray color.  Again, there is no need to erase these, since they are not the bubble blocks.

This drawing has the view in the viewport twisted (using "Dview, Twist") so that north would be to the right.  As shown in the following figure, if you tried to put in the bubble with out changing the snap angle you would see the bubble note come in matching the ucs.

However, by changing the setting Snapang to be horizontal to the drawing, it will come in horizontal to the screen per the next drawing.  Or you may change it to what ever you want, depending on how you want your drawing to appear.

Please take some time putting in several more notes as shown on the "ghost notes" layer
in the Utility Plan.   As you insert the notes, you may wish to click on the "Edit Notes" Icon
to see the associated notes that you are inserting into the drawing.

Note: After adding notes to the Utility plan.dwg go back to the Site plan.dwg
