CNM showing extra notes in Key Notes table

Postby hawstom » Wed May 27, 2009 3:41 pm

Is there some reason why the list displays all notes in the list even when there are no call outs on the tabbed sheet? Do I have to delete the list and re-select the insert point first or save the “.ini” file a special way or what? It seems to pick notes at random that it decides to display, not related to the callouts or anything else.

Bob,

There are two things that may be happening:

1. If you are NOT using COUNT, LINE1, LINE2, etc to get automatic quantities from the sheet, CNM preserves any notes that used to be in the table even if there are no bubbles of their type. I think it would be good to change this behavior even though it was an intentional feature originally. The solution is to erase the Key Notes Table so that the "old" notes are no longer "preserved".

2. If you are doing a Quantity Take-off, of course you have the choice of showing all notes or only those that are used.

Let me know if this helps.

Tom,

This still is not working. No matter what I set the value of “DoCurrentTabOnly” to, CNM still keeps randomly creating the notes list. I have also tried to delete the entire variable line out of the “.ini” file and that does not work either. I even tried to delete all notes out of every tab and then going through and creating the lists, but it keeps adding other notes at random. Any other ideas?

Bob,

This is completely unheard of. I need to understand better what you are doing. What button are you pushing to make this happen? What does the button look like?

Please refer to previous email for description, basically the little box with three small boxes and 3 squiggly lines. The same one I always use. Is there a special button to click I do not know of in this situation to use?

Bob,

Thanks for your patience. I apologize for the registration hassle.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary there. We have two options:

1. I can do remote viewing support on your computer.

2. We can explore other ideas at random:
a) Are there remnants of bubble notes in your drawing somewhere?
b) Is your Project Notes file formatted wrong somehow?
c) Is this a drawing with bubble notes in multiple tabs, and CNM is not acting like it should?
d) Are there Key Notes Tables in other tabs? (I have a hunch about a possible defect discovery in this one)

d) actually, yes, this may be part of the problem but shouldn't be with "DoCurrentTabsOnly" set to 1, right?

Right. But I am thinking it may be a defect. Perhaps CNM ignores bubble notes on other tabs, but doesn't ignore Key Notes Tables on other tabs. Let me check and be back with you.

Bob,

Can you possibly send me by email the drawing and the project notes and ini where this problem is occurring?

Any clues yet?
I'll be back on this project soon to finish it up, don't want to break tabs out to dwg's if I don't have to...

Thanks for the reminder, Bob. I am having a lot of distractions in my life this month, and I need the pushing.

I understand. We had another error come up just now. What is "strigp nil *cancel*"? It happens when trying to create the notes list and no notes list is created.

New problem; what does “value must be non-zero” mean and how do I fix this error? When I click on the create const note list button, I get this error now. Did I edit the notes list file wrong or what? I could not find anything visibly wrong with it.

Wow! Everything is blowing up in your face!

What is your CNM version (CNM, Help, About CNM)?

1. The "non-zero" error usually occurs if you have dimtxt or dimscale set to zero inadvertently. Check those.

2. The stringp error is an AutoLISP error, and I don't know what is causing it. What are you using to edit your Project notes? The CNM editor or a text editor?
